The Alcatel 1640 FOX (Fibre Optic eXtension) is a multi-protocol CPE for optical access applications capable of delivering SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy), Ethernet, GbE, L2-VPN, IP and ATM. The 1640 FOX may be connected to any standard SDH central office system using a point-to-point link, or directly inserted into STM-1 or STM-4 SDH rings. It operates at a range of speeds – 2Mbps, 34Mbps, 45Mbps, STM-1 and STM-4.
