This year’s National Apprenticeship Week theme, “Building skills for life,” perfectly reflects the value apprenticeships bring — helping people grow in confidence, gain recognised qualifications and build rewarding, long-term careers.

At TXO, apprenticeships are an important part of how we develop talent across the organisation. They’re not just for people starting out. They support career development at every stage for those who want to build new skills, gain recognised qualifications and move into new roles.

We’re proud of the commitment shown by our apprentices, as well as the mentors and training partners who support them. Together, they’re helping to build stronger teams and more sustainable careers across our industry.

Meet Nicky, Sales and Internal Account Team Manager

Nicky Smith is a great example of this in action. As one of our leadership apprentices, Nicky is currently studying the Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship, which includes the CMI Level 3 Diploma in First Line Management and Leadership.

The programme covers key leadership areas, including:

  • Inclusive leadership
  • Management principles
  • Leading with confidence
  • Managing a diverse team
  • Managing inclusive change

Delivered in partnership with the Institute of Telecom Professionals, the apprenticeship combines structured learning with day-to-day responsibilities to help our colleagues build practical skills they can apply immediately in their roles.

“My apprenticeship has been a really positive experience. I’m learning on the job, gaining a recognised qualification and developing skills that will support my career long term.”
