About the Huawei SmartAX MA5800 OLT

The Huawei SmartAX MA5800 is a powerful optical line terminal (OLT) designed to meet the demands of modern high-speed internet services. It is produced by Chinese telecoms company, Huawei as part of the SmartAX MA5800 series of OLT products. This range features several models including the X2, X7, X15 and X17. 

The Huawei MA5800 offers a range of features that make it the ideal solution for service providers that need to deliver high-quality 4K/8K and VR services to their customers and support high-capacity Gigaband demands, whilst offering huge capacity for a large number of subscribers. Depending on the model, the MA5800 can support up to 16000 4K/8K subscribers at a time by utilising a distributed cache policy to allow for smoother video traffic and an excellent user service experience.

The Huawei MA5800 also features a high-density design that enables it to support an array of optical ports, whilst maintaining a relatively compact size. It can accommodate up to 16 10G PON ports, each of which can support multiple types of services, including broadband, VoIP, IPTV, and Wi-Fi. These ports can then be upgraded if required to support up to 50G PON ports. In addition to this, the MAC and IP address forwarding capabilities can be upgraded without the need to replace the control board. This high-density design and upgrade capability gives network operators greater degrees of flexibility and control over their network and offers them incredible degrees of scalability.

Featuring support for multiple protocols and standards, the Huawei SmartAX MA5800 utilises a Flex-PON board that supports GPON, EPON, XG-PON, and XG-PON1 whilst enabling FTTH, FTTD, FTTB and FTTC network solutions. This array of connectivity options makes the Cisco MA5800 applicable for a range of network solutions including enterprise access and Wi-Fi hotspot backhaul.

In addition to its scalability, the Huawei MA5800 supports a range of advanced technologies that enhance its functionality and performance. These technologies include Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA), which optimises bandwidth allocation on the network, and Flexible Optical Access, which enables the OLT to be deployed in a variety of network environments, giving even greater control to network operators.
